Universal Health Coverage Day 2019 | Leaders “Keep the Promise”
Universal Health Coverage Day. Five years ago, The Rockefeller Foundation and partners inaugurated UHC Day. Today, we’re proud to see the entire United Nations system come together to celebrate International #UHCDay as an official awareness day. This year’s theme calls on global leaders to “Keep the Promise” of Health for All made during the High-Level Meeting on Universal Health Coverage during the UN General Assembly in September.
Today, despite many commitments to Health for All, almost half of the world’s population cannot access essential health services. When people fall sick, where they live and how much money they have often determine whether they live or die. These stark inequities are why the Foundation has contributed to strengthening health systems.
LIFT4Africa joins other CSOs and stakeholders in the health sectors charged leaders most especially elected government representatives to revisit their manifesto, identify and evaluate if the promises made on Healthcare are been fulfilled. If not, they should return to their community and fulfil their own end of the bargain after being given the mandate to represent the people.
LIFT4Africa also pledges it’s commitment to continue in ensuring a #UniversalHealthCoverage for all.
