LIFT4Africa in it’s advocacy visit to the Imo State Primary Healthcare Development Agency (IMSPHDA) on the 9th of May, 2023. Amongst other issues discussed how both organizations can work “hand in glove” in the forthcoming coming Health For All project coming up on the 3rd if June, 2023.
At the meeting, the Founder and Executive Director LIFT4Africa, Mr. Ezeani Chiemezie briefed the State Executive Secretary represented by Dr. Odom Uchechukwu (Dir. PHC, SMOH) on the Health For All project.
He stated that the H4A project is to commemorate the 75 years Anniversary of the World Health Organization (WHO), with Theme -Health For All.
The Founder LIFT4Africa went on to say that the Project is designed to foster the LIFT4Africa’s strategic goal, which aim to ensure the #UniversalHealthCoverage of all, in line with the Global Goals for Sustainable Development #SDG 3.7.
“LIFT4Africa would carry out a medical outreach in 75 communities within Imo State, to screen, sensitize, counsel and provide free meditation to about 5,000+ persons in the State. While also identifying and managing known diabetics (type 1 and type 2 diabetes).
With the goal of ensuring that Diabetics gets to know their status, while also living a healthy lifestyle” he said.
Universal health coverage means that all people and communities receive the health services (e.g. the full spectrum of health services from health promotion to prevention, treatment, rehabilitation and palliative care across the life course) they need and of sufficient quality to be effective while also ensuring that the use of these services does not expose the user to financial hardship. The inclusion of UHC in the SDGs presents an opportunity to promote a comprehensive and coherent approach to health, focusing on health systems strengthening. Countries that progress towards UHC will make progress towards the other health-related targets, and towards the other goals. Universal health coverage has therefore become a major goal for health reform in many countries and a priority objective of WHO.
LIFT4Africa therefore seek the partnership of ISPHCDA in this State project.
Dr. Odom (Dir. PHC SMOH), in response expressed satisfaction in the goal and strategic plan for the project and expressed the Agency’s interest in partnering with LIFT4Africa to ensure that the basic healthcare delivery gets to the people while ensuring Universal Health Coverage in Imo State.
In attendance were Dr. Chibuzo Okoroama (SIO) and Miss. Uwaeme Ezinne. The Founder/Executive Director LIFT4Africa called on all Civil Society Organisations, Stakeholders and actors in Public Health Sector to come together and support the success of the Health For All project.
